Terms of Service

By creating an account, starting a membership, or otherwise using Epic Spelling Bee, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the service on behalf of a child, student, family, or classroom, you agree to these Terms on their behalf and are responsible for their use of the service. If you do not agree, please do not use Epic Spelling Bee.

Epic Spelling Bee is an online spelling practice platform. It provides word practice with audio pronunciation, definitions, example sentences and origins, a daily Word of the Day, a curated Word Bank, progress and accuracy tracking, missed-word review, achievements, printable study cards, and a same-device Spelling Squad multiplayer mode. Some features are available to everyone and others require a paid membership.

Some parts of the service, such as the homepage Word of the Day and limited free practice, can be used without an account. Creating an account requires an email address, a password, and a username.

• Provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password and login credentials confidential.
• You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

Epic Spelling Bee is built for students and families. Accounts are intended to be created and managed by a parent, guardian, teacher, or other adult where the speller is a child. We do not collect date of birth or age information, so we cannot verify a user's age. Children may also use free practice without an account.

Epic Spelling Bee offers certain features without a paid membership, subject to reasonable usage limits. The features included in free access, and any daily practice limits, are described within the service and on our pricing page and may change from time to time as the product evolves. Free access does not include Member-only functionality and does not guarantee availability of any particular feature.

A paid membership unlocks the Member experience, which currently includes unlimited Solo Practice, the full Word Bank and higher difficulty levels, saved progress and accuracy tracking, missed-word review, achievements, printable study cards, and the Spelling Squad multiplayer mode. Membership features may be added, improved, or adjusted over time; the current list of included features is shown on the pricing page and within the service.

Memberships are offered on a monthly or yearly plan. The price of the plan you select is displayed before you complete checkout.

New memberships begin with a 7-day free trial. You choose a plan and provide payment details at checkout, but you are not charged when the trial begins. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the trial automatically converts into a paid membership and your first charge occurs at the end of the 7-day trial period at the price of the plan you selected.

If you cancel during the trial, you are not charged and your Member access ends when the trial period finishes. Trials are intended for new memberships; we may limit trial eligibility to prevent repeated or abusive trial use.

Payments and subscriptions are processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card number. Billing occurs according to the plan you select — monthly or yearly — starting at the end of your free trial.

Memberships renew automatically at the then-current price for your plan until you cancel. Applicable taxes may be added where required. Prices are shown before checkout, and if we change membership pricing we will provide notice before the change applies to your renewal.

You can cancel at any time from the Billing section of your Account page. The "Manage Billing" option opens a secure billing page hosted by our payment provider where you can cancel your membership, update your payment method, and view your invoices.

When you cancel a paid membership, it remains active for the rest of the billing period you have already paid for, and Member access ends when that period finishes. If you cancel during the free trial, Member access ends when the trial period finishes and no charge is made.

Because every membership begins with a 7-day free trial, you can try all Member features before any charge is made, and you can cancel at any time to prevent future renewals. If you believe you were charged in error or have a billing question, please contact us and we will review your situation.

Epic Spelling Bee is a learning tool for families, students, and classrooms. When using the service, you agree not to:

• Misuse the service or use it for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place unreasonable load on the service.
• Use automated systems, scrapers, or bots to access or overload the service.
• Abuse or exploit application functionality, bugs, or errors.
• Attempt to circumvent membership restrictions, usage limits, or paywalls.
• Harass other users or disrupt the experience of other spellers.

Spelling Squad is a same-device, local multiplayer mode: players take turns on one device during a session hosted from a Member account. Player names entered for a session are simply labels used to display turns and scores during that session — they are not separate Epic Spelling Bee accounts and do not create accounts.

Spelling Squad results do not contribute to the account owner's personal learning progress, accuracy, streaks, or achievements. Solo Practice is the mode that updates long-term personal progress.

Epic Spelling Bee provides educational practice and learning tools. We do not guarantee any specific academic improvement, test or classroom performance, competition placement, or spelling bee outcome. Results depend on the individual speller and the consistency of their practice. Word lists, definitions, and pronunciations are provided for practice and may differ from those used by any particular school, competition, or dictionary.

The Epic Spelling Bee name, branding, site design, software, graphics, and original educational content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws and remain the property of Epic Spelling Bee or its licensors. Reference material such as dictionary definitions, word origins, and pronunciations may belong to their respective owners.

You are granted permission to use the service, and to print study cards you generate, for personal, family, or classroom educational use. You do not acquire ownership of the platform, and you may not copy, resell, or redistribute the service or its content for commercial purposes without our permission.

You are responsible for the information you submit to Epic Spelling Bee, including your account and profile details, usernames and profile tags, Spelling Squad player names, and messages sent through the Contact page. Please do not submit information that is inaccurate, offensive, or that you do not have permission to share — and avoid entering unnecessary personal details about children.

You retain your rights in the information you submit. We use it only to operate and support the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Your use of Epic Spelling Bee is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, and protected.

We are continually improving Epic Spelling Bee. We may update features, add or change content, perform maintenance, and modify or discontinue parts of the service. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, always available, or entirely error-free. Where practical, we aim to avoid disruption to active memberships.

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to an account in cases of serious or repeated violations of these Terms, abuse of the service, fraud, security risks, or unlawful activity. You may stop using the service at any time and can cancel a membership from your Account page.

Epic Spelling Bee is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not make warranties that the service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, or be free of errors, and we do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of every definition, pronunciation, or word entry. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited under applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, Epic Spelling Bee will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service, such as lost data or missed opportunities. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for your membership in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, and in those cases these limits apply only to the extent permitted.

These Terms are governed by applicable law. A specific governing law and venue has not yet been designated for Epic Spelling Bee; if one is established, this section will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change.

We may update these Terms as Epic Spelling Bee evolves. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will provide reasonable notice where required. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
